Get the Player-Data from my world back

Problem Description

Issue

I wanted to change the Name of the map because it had spaces in it and didn’t work with multiverse core. I did rename it in the wrong tab and the server seemed to create a new map. When I tried to load the backup it didn’t work. Because I didn’t know what I was doing I deleted some world files that just got copied. I really don’t know what is going on and I would like to talk to someone personally.

Reproduction Steps

  • I changed the name of the world accidentally in the world creation Menu
  • I Restarted the server
  • Everything was reset
  • Loading backup didn’t do anything
  • A friend of mine managed to get the world back from the backups
  • He renamed the map
  • He loaded it using multiverse core
  • World Is back but not the player data

You need to rename the folder, as well as change the Level Name setting in AMP for your initial idea to work (assuming you’re referring to the main world).
Restoring a backup does not change the Level Name, so that’s possibly what you ran into.
Could also be that Multiverse has changed how the playerdata is handled for that world, you might have to look around. (they have great docs)

So I now have multiple worlds in the files. I can only change between them using multiverse. I think none of them does contain the Player-Data so I need to restore the backup again? Also I’m not very experienced with the whole system bc this my first Server. Also I don’t need multiverse and I wanted to delete it anyway. If I just delete multiverse, load the backup and then rename the map the right way. Would it work?

If you share the same inventory across all the worlds, then the playerdata would be with the main world inside the worldname/playerdata folder. If you have multiple worlds with multiple inventories, then Multiverse might take over.
I’d suggest renaming/removing the playerdata folder, then restore the backup again to see if there was just some issue restoring that directory.
(always restore backups while the server is stopped)

Multiverse probably has some documentation for migrating away from them. You might be fine to remove the plugin and see how things go, otherwise refer to their wiki

So I stopped the server and loaded the backup again, now the saved original map my friend got to work didn’t load anymore and I am on the wrong map again. I still don’t have my stuff and some files got duplicated. Loading the original world that got added back with the backup will result in a simple error

Not to sure then, you’ll need to read the logs to figure out the cause of the error.
