7 Days to Die - Server still initializing

OS Name/Version: Windows 11 Home

Product Name/Version: AMP Release “Phobos” v2.6.1

Problem Description:

I’m unable to connect 7 Days to Die AMP instance after game crash. While connected to the 7 Days to Die server from another pc on my network, my game crashed (I fell thru the ground).

Actions taken to resolve so far:

Initially, I tried to reconnect after closing and restarting the 7 Days to Die application on my pc, but when I tried to connect I kept getting the
error “Server is still initializing”.

Next step I closed the 7 Days to Die application on my pc and restarted the 7 Days to Die AMP instance, but I’m still getting the same error when trying to connect.

After the server restart, I checked the Console output and see the following error text (highlighted in red) repeated 100s of times:

2025-03-28T18:56:08 52.971 ERR Invalid region file name: C:\AMPDatastore\Instances\SevenDaysToDie01\seven-days-to-die\294420\User\Saves\Jiweya County\My AMP Game\Region\error_backup_32_-88.comp.bak
2025-03-28T18:56:08 53.034 EXC Exception: Incorrect region file header! C:\AMPDatastore\Instances\SevenDaysToDie01\seven-days-to-die\294420\User\Saves\Jiweya County\My AMP Game\Region/r.1.-3.7rg

Note: the range of error_backup_32_-88.comp.bak files goes to error_backup_63_-80.comp.bak (i.e. there are close to 100 .bak files in the folder.

Can just delete those files? I’m assuming they are corrupted .bak files.

Also, I noticed that Server and Steam Port 26900 Both is not listening. Is there a way to restart the Server and Steam Port? I’m guessing that is why I can’t connect.

How old is this save? Was anyone do any region resets prior to the crash that didn’t allow it to boot again?

It sounds like your region files are corrupt. If you cannot restore from a prior working backup you may need to wipe your region files completely and let them regenerate. (this will wipe all bases and any player made structures) So don’t do this unless you have a back up, which I’m hoping you do!

As far as knowing when the server is ready to join via the console the last thing it spits out after completely booting is “ImposterBlock”, that’s when you’ll see it listening on the ports inside AMP as that’s when it’s fully booted.

Let me know if you have any questions, this game is put together with popsicle sticks and duct tape but darn if it isn’t fun

Ok I was able to resolve my issue by deleting all the ERR .bak files and the one r.1.-3.7rg file in the \Users\Saves\Jiweya County\My AMP Game\Region folder. I then restarted the server and I’m able to connect now. Thank you.
