Startup Issue with Minecraft - Java Runtime Environment error when starting Minecraft server

Problem Description

Issue

When I attempt to start an instance of Minecraft, I receive the following error:

Error: LinkageError occurred while loading main class net.minecraft.bundler.Main
java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: net/minecraft/bundler/Main has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 69.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 65.0

Reproduction Steps

  • updated minecraft server to latest version
  • started server
  • Tried to update the AMP software

Same. No changes to the server recently but noticed we couldn’t connect today.

Wrong java version selected. Make sure a newer version is selected in AMP.
