The irony is that the experimental UE4SS build works out of the box on Linux (running under Wine), but not on the native platform. Go figure.
This seemed to fix it, at least locally. Let me attempt to connect externally just to verify it works. Even so, i wanted to thank you guys especially for all your help, i never would have figured this out without you guys.
Note that if you update the server again, you will need to re-apply the experimental build and delete the dll. At least until the next UE4SS release.
thank you very much, i will keep the file handy and that in mind.
Actually, deleting dwmapi.dll might stop UE4SS from working, as that dll injects UE4SS. So by deleting you are just probably running a vanilla server. Rip for the time being. Soz
oh, that is nice to know. i guess ill just have to hold out. when there is an update for ue4ss, how will i know in AMP, is there a changelog for instances?
You can monitor releases here: Releases · UE4SS-RE/RE-UE4SS · GitHub
AMP just pulls the latest.
i do have a question, as the server runs via the regular steam download, would rolling back a version possibly launch my server? i havent updated ue4ss on it, yet it still runs just fine on the latest steam version.
I don’t follow?
You can also disable UE4SS via the UI, under SteamCMD and Updates.
When you update the server again, UE4SS will be removed.
ah, well i tried it and it didnt seem to work, i was wanting to use an older version of ue4ss that seems to work with my steam-based server, but that didnt prove fruitful. im not sure why it works with steams dedicated server app and not amps, but i guess i do just have to wait for it to update properly.
Is your Steam dedicated server the latest version? This only broke with the Palworld update a couple of days ago.
yes, i have updated it to the latest version, and it functions just fine with all my mods enabled, the only difference was i had to delete one mod that broke with the update.
That’s odd, because the Palworld discord is full of people saying UE4SS is broken.
Mods that don’t use UE4SS are not affected ofc.
that is indeed odd, as a few of the mods i am running do require it to be installed. i havent installed them on the amp server yet, but they seem to function just fine with the steam dedicated app. not sure why its working for the steam version when i copied my configs/ue4ss files to amp, but wont function on amp.
I’m hoping this is not one of the scenarios where AMP can’t run it because it uses Network Service.
Is there any way i would be able to check?
You can replicate what AMP does from the command line as your normal user - same executable and same arguments - and see what happens
