Hello, im going to attempt to set up a Linux Mint AMP server but was wondering if anyone has a updated how to set it up and give permissions and get a server running thru docker, specifically ARK Survival…a video would be tops! as there seems to be none on youtube and AMP’s official one is 4 years OUT OF DATE!
If AMP is supported on your distro there’s literally no instructions to follow other than “Run the installer and follow the questions”. That’s it.
imn literally 110% new to linux and have no idea what anythign or all these fancy technical words you use are donno what distro is and no clue how to type in the MS DOS panel that Linux uses…wich is why i was asking if anyone had a how to.
If you’re new to Linux, you need to familiarize yourself with Linux first. This forum is not for that. Look up “The Linux Command Line”. It is a free PDF e-book that is a great beginner’s read for an introduction to Linux, in my opinion. If you have specific questions about AMP, we’d be happy to help out.
A “distro” is the package of Linux you are using (you said Mint in your post so that is what you are using). Mint is based off Ubuntu, so you can follow those instructions to set up Amp. There is a video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6vJryMvqkY
The “MS DOS” panel is call Terminal, I believe, in Mint (sorry, I use Arch btw!). You can open the terminal normally by either hitting CTRL-ALT-T, or going down to the “start menu” area and type “terminal” in the search bar. The video should show you the rest to get Amp up.
I STRONGLY agree with Bodrew though…if you don’t know much with linux, I would definately try to familiarize yourself with it as you need to know some basics for troubleshooting.
