Problem Description

Issue

The game will not connect if I use my external facing IP address with forwarded port, but it will with the local address and port.

Reproduction Steps

  • Download App
  • Forward Necessary Ports
  • Try and Connect

Do you have a “u-turn” AKA “hairpin” NAT rule in place? You need this in order to connect to your external IP from inside your network.

I am using a ubiquiti express as my main node, how would I check?

I am also able to port forward other stuff, such as Minecraft, Plex, and 7 days.

I’m not familiar with ubiquiti routers/firewalls as I use enterprise gear at home so I can’t be sure myself. But I did do a quick search and find this reddit post Hairpin NAT (loopback) possible with Unifi Express? : Ubiquiti (reddit.com) which seems to indicate there is a known issue with this and it has a possible solution.
