Windows must use containers and it’s recommended on Linux due to extra dependencies required. This is because Farm Sim saves its files in the user’s profile folder and only allows one server install per machine. Using Proton on Linux gets around this since each Proton install is treated as a new Windows machine.
The template asks for your key and then downloads the game server and activates it on startup. You can delete the key file to reactivate. You cannot use the same key as your client or you’ll get a connection error. They will rate limit your key if used too much and I’m not sure if support will reset it (ask me how I know…)
GIANTS also doesn’t allow enterprise use without being in their partnership program so it’s disabled as well.
